Sapthami Gowda, who earned nationwide acclaim with her role in Kantara, is now all set to make her Telugu debut with the upcoming film Thammudu, starring Nithiin. The movie is scheduled for release on July 4, and Sapthami has shared her excitement and thoughts about the project during recent media interactions. She mentioned that while her look in Thammudu might remind audiences of her previous role, her character Ratna is entirely different, bringing a fun and refreshing vibe to an otherwise serious storyline. Although her screen time is limited, she assured that the role is impactful. What stands out, according to Sapthami, is the strong presence of female characters in the film. She highlighted how actress Swasika plays a bus driver, Laya garu takes on the role of a strict officer, and even herself and Varsha Bollamma participate in action sequences alongside the hero. Sapthami believes these roles will make women in the audience feel proud and represented. She also revealed that she learned horse riding for the film and praised director Sriram Venu for designing every character with care and precision, stating that he never compromised on quality, whether it was from the actors or the technical team. Speaking about her career choices, Sapthami said she turned down several offers after Kantara because they didn’t excite her enough, which is why she hasn’t appeared in many films since. However, she expressed interest in doing more commercial films and said she admires Rashmika Mandanna’s role in Pushpa. Currently, Sapthami is working on two more Telugu films, along with projects in Tamil and Kannada. Thammudu is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish and also marks the return of actress Laya to Telugu cinema after nearly seven years.
