In a significant political move, Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party has announced the nomination of renowned actor and politician Kamal Haasan as one of their four candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for June 19.
The announcement, made by DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, marks Haasan’s foray into the upper house of the Indian parliament, further solidifying his political presence in the state.
Haasan, the founder of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) political party, has been a vocal critic of the previous All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government and has often been at loggerheads with the party.
