Controversy Surrounds TANA 2025 Event as TDP Voices Concerns
The upcoming TANA (Telugu Association of North America) event, scheduled to take place in Novi, Michigan from July 3rd to 5th, 2025, has sparked a negative reaction from the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) political faction. According to sources, the TDP has expressed concerns over the organization and purpose of this prominent gathering of the Telugu diaspora in North America.
The TANA event, held biennially, is a highly anticipated celebration of Telugu culture, heritage, and community. It attracts thousands of attendees from across the United States and Canada, offering a platform for cultural performances, educational seminars, and networking opportunities. However, the TDP’s criticism appears to be centered around the perceived political undertones of the event.
A senior TDP leader, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated, “We have reservations about the TANA 2025 event and its potential to be used as a political platform. Our concern is that the event may be leveraged to promote certain political agendas, which we believe should be kept separate from the celebration of our shared cultural identity.”
The TDP’s apprehension stems from the involvement of various political figures and organizations in the past TANA events. “While we acknowledge the importance of the TANA event in preserving our cultural heritage, we believe it should remain apolitical and inclusive of all Telugu people, regardless of their political affiliations,” the TDP leader added.
In response, the TANA organizing committee has emphasized the event’s focus on cultural celebrations and community building. “TANA has always been a platform for the Telugu diaspora to come together and celebrate our shared traditions and values,” said the committee’s spokesperson. “We strive to maintain a non-partisan and inclusive environment that brings people together, not divides them.”
Despite the TDP’s concerns, the TANA 2025 event is expected to draw a large number of attendees from the Telugu community across North America. The organizers have assured that they will work to address the TDP’s reservations and ensure the event remains true to its cultural roots, free from any overt political agendas.
