Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the “disgraceful” remarks made against women on a television channel owned by former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Naidu described the comments as unacceptable and called for strong action to be taken against those responsible.
The remarks in question were made on a program aired by YSR TV, a channel owned by Reddy’s YSR Congress Party. Naidu expressed his outrage at the nature of the comments, which were seen as misogynistic and derogatory towards women.
“Such disgraceful remarks against women are completely unacceptable and have no place in our society,” Naidu said in a statement. “I strongly condemn these comments and demand that strict action be taken against those responsible. Women deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, not subjected to this kind of toxic rhetoric.”
The controversy has reignited tensions between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the opposition YSR Congress Party. Naidu accused Reddy’s party of engaging in a “campaign of character assassination” against women, calling it a desperate attempt to divert attention from the party’s own failings.
“This is not the first time we have seen such attacks on women’s dignity from the YSR Congress Party,” Naidu said. “They seem to have a pattern of targeting and demeaning women, and it is high time they were held accountable for their actions.”
The Andhra Pradesh government has vowed to take strict legal action against the individuals responsible for the remarks, and has called on the state’s women’s commission to investigate the matter thoroughly. Naidu has also demanded an unconditional apology from the YSR Congress Party leadership.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many prominent figures and organizations condemning the comments and calling for swift action. Women’s rights activists have also expressed their disappointment and have vowed to continue their fight against such misogynistic behavior in the public sphere.
