Political Tensions Rise in Andhra Pradesh Over Vallabhaneni Vamsi’s Arrest

Andhra Pradesh politics is abuzz following the arrest of former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was remanded for two weeks in connection with the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram.

This arrest has sparked outrage within the YCP (YSR Congress Party), with party leaders criticizing the police action. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has now weighed in on the matter, offering his initial reaction to Vamsi’s arrest.

Jagan’s Response

Jagan voiced strong criticism of TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu and his government, accusing them of mishandling the case. He said:
“The way Chandrababu’s coalition government is handling the case of former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi is extremely unfair. In the Gannavaram case, a Dalit youth testified before a judge and exposed the ruling party’s conspiracy, stating that the TDP pressured him into filing a false case. Yet, Chandrababu Naidu remains determined to arrest Vamsi. Where is the law and order in the state?”

While Jagan kept his statement brief, TDP supporters were quick to emphasize his alleged double standards. They pointed out that Jagan had previously shown no objection when Vamsi’s associates were accused of vandalizing the TDP office in 2022.

Criticism of Jagan’s Actions

TDP cadres have also highlighted Jagan’s apparent lack of concern over the situation, noting that he attended a wedding and later traveled to Bengaluru while Vamsi remains in legal turmoil. They argued that his indifferent actions undermine his public statement and raise questions about his commitment to the matter.

The arrest of Vallabhaneni Vamsi has added fuel to the already charged political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh, with both sides exchanging accusations over law and order and political vendettas.
