Sakshi, Amaravati: In a bold statement, YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his displeasure over Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged misinformation regarding the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. Speaking from the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, January 8, Jagan accused Naidu of stealing credit for the Bhogapuram Airport project and engaging in self-serving politics that misled the public.

Jagan emphasized that individuals like Naidu, who manipulate situations for their selfish gains, will ultimately be remembered as infamous figures in history. He highlighted that the state’s development has been misrepresented, and pointed out that the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, has already disclosed how Naidu has hindered the Rayalaseema Lift project. According to Jagan, the necessity of the lift irrigation system is crucial for the region, and the recent comments suggesting otherwise indicate a secret agreement between Naidu and Rao.

Highlighting the significance of the Rayalaseema Lift, Jagan stated that it is essential for providing much-needed water supply to several areas, including Nellore. He criticized Naidu for his alleged collusion, suggesting that the former Chief Minister is betraying the interests of his own region for personal gain. Jagan’s comments were particularly pointed as he referred to Naidu as a “villainous character,” implying that Naidu’s actions have led to detrimental consequences for the people of Rayalaseema.

Jagan further elaborated on the technical aspects of the irrigation projects, mentioning that for the Potireddypadu project to receive adequate water supply, certain water levels must be maintained at Srisailam. He provided detailed figures, stating that there are allocations of 101 TMCs for Potireddypadu, yet the actual water supplied has been minimal. Jagan accused Naidu’s government of neglecting the necessary environmental clearances for key projects and called for accountability.

The YSRCP leader also touched upon the legal troubles faced by Naidu, referencing audio and video evidence related to corruption in the “Vote for Cash” scandal. He pointed out that Naidu has been unable to defend himself against these allegations, further tarnishing his reputation. Jagan insisted that his government is committed to correcting the mistakes of the previous administration and ensuring that the people of Rayalaseema receive their rightful share of water resources.

In a closing remark, Jagan reiterated that the ongoing water crisis in Rayalaseema is a direct result of Naidu’s mismanagement and called for unity among the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to address these pressing issues. He asserted that it is the responsibility of current leaders to rectify past errors and ensure that such historical injustices do not continue to affect the lives of the citizens.
