Andhra Pradesh: Thousands of private unaided schools across Andhra Pradesh remained shut today, as school management associations launched a statewide protest against what they describe as unfair pressure related to the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

The protest, organized by multiple school associations, is meant to highlight serious concerns over the lack of transparency and due process in the current enforcement of the RTE quota system.

According to school representatives, officials have been allegedly:

Forcing RTE admissions without proper documentation or verification.

Issuing derecognition threats and show-cause notices without following legal procedures.

Creating pressure on school administrations, causing distress among management and staff.

Under the RTE Act, private unaided schools are required to reserve 25% of seats at the entry-level for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections. While the managements say they support the spirit of the law, they object to how it is being implemented without clarity, fairness, or proper communication.

Several schools reported receiving unexpected notices and threats of action, which led to growing frustration and today’s collective shutdown.

Many parents were caught off-guard by the closures, while education authorities have appealed for calm and urged schools to cooperate. However, school associations have warned that if the government does not respond to their concerns, further action will be planned in the coming weeks.
