Turkey Ramps Up Border Security Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Conflict
In a move to bolster its national security, Turkey has significantly increased the security presence along its border with Iran as the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran continues to intensify, a senior source within the Turkish Defence Ministry confirmed on Thursday.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated that while Ankara has not observed any irregular migration flows from Iran into Turkey, the decision to enhance border security was a proactive measure to ensure the stability and integrity of Turkey’s frontier regions.
“We are closely monitoring the situation between Israel and Iran, and have taken necessary steps to reinforce the security of our shared border with Iran,” the source said. “This is a precautionary move to safeguard our national interests and maintain the safety of our citizens living in the border areas.”
The escalating tensions between Israel and Iran have raised concerns about the potential for the conflict to spill over into neighboring countries, including Turkey, which shares a 560-kilometer (348-mile) border with Iran.
