Kyiv, Ukraine – In a new wave of strikes, Russia has unleashed a barrage of drone attacks against Ukraine, hitting the capital Kyiv and inflicting damage on a maternity ward in the southern port city of Odesa, according to regional officials.

The latest assault comes as Ukraine continues to grapple with the relentless Russian onslaught, which has seen Moscow increasingly rely on Iranian-made drones to target critical infrastructure and civilian sites across the country. The attacks have disrupted power and water supplies, causing immense hardship for the Ukrainian people.

In Kyiv, the drone strikes triggered air raid sirens and sent residents rushing to shelters as explosions rocked the city. Authorities reported that several drones were shot down, but the damage assessment is still ongoing. Ukrenergo, the national energy company, stated that the attacks had affected power generation facilities, leading to power outages in some areas.

The situation was particularly dire in Odesa, where a maternity ward was struck by the drone assault. Regional officials reported that the facility sustained significant damage, although thankfully there were no casualties. The attack has highlighted the devastating toll the conflict is taking on Ukraine’s healthcare infrastructure, further straining the country’s ability to provide essential services to its citizens.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odesa regional administration, condemned the attack, stating, “The occupiers launched a drone attack on a maternity hospital in Odesa. The facade and several floors of the building were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties. This is yet another act of terrorism against the civilian population of Ukraine.”

The latest drone strikes come amidst a broader escalation of the conflict, with both sides engaged in fierce battles across various fronts. Ukraine’s forces have made notable advances in the south and east, reclaiming territory from Russian control. However, the Kremlin has responded with increasingly brutal tactics, including the use of drones and missile strikes to target civilian infrastructure.

As the war rages on, the international community continues to condemn Russia’s actions and provide various forms of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The situation remains volatile, and the future of the conflict remains uncertain, with both sides determined to secure their respective objectives.
