In a recent escalation of political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, former minister Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy has denounced what he described as a “malicious attack” on the residence of his fellow party member, Ambati Rambabu. Speaking to reporters after visiting Rambabu’s family in Guntur, Reddy expressed his outrage at the state of governance under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu’s coalition government, which he claims has devolved into chaos.

Reddy criticized the violent actions that have been directed toward members of the YSR Congress Party, specifically targeting legislators, former ministers, and parliamentarians. He pointed out the shocking nature of the attack on Rambabu’s home, labeling it as an unprecedented incident in his 45 years of political experience. Furthermore, he highlighted a separate attack involving petrol bombs on the home of another former minister, Jogi Ramesh, who is known for his leadership within the backward classes community.

The former minister attributed these violent outbursts to the influence of Minister Lokesh, whom he claims is the root cause of the recent spate of attacks. Reddy warned that if such incidents continue, the people would inevitably respond with appropriate action against those responsible. He expressed deep concern over the implications of such violence for the political landscape, questioning how the coalition government could expect to maintain its legitimacy amid such turmoil.

Reddy’s remarks included a poignant reminder of the political culture in the region. He asserted that attacks on the homes of politicians, irrespective of their party affiliation, have never been commonplace in the state’s history, neither before nor after its bifurcation. From his perspective, the current situation marks a troubling shift, suggesting that the political discourse has devolved into violence rather than constructive debate.

He also criticized Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who had previously pledged support for the backward classes but has remained silent following these violent incidents. Reddy questioned Kalyan’s commitment to the issues affecting women, referencing a past statement in which Kalyan claimed that 30,000 women had gone missing. He lamented that since assuming power, there has been no action taken to address such critical concerns.

Reddy directed his ire toward the leadership of Naidu, Lokesh, and Kalyan, arguing that their actions and inactions are not only irresponsible but also disconnected from the reality faced by the people of the state. He warned that if the patterns of violence continue, the coalition could face dire political repercussions, including the potential loss of their electoral deposit.

The former minister concluded his statements by reaffirming the support of YSR Congress Party and its leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for Rambabu and his family. He emphasized that those who perpetrated the attacks would face consequences and that the public is vigilant and ready to hold the ruling party accountable for its misdeeds. Additionally, he expressed his satisfaction at the recent bail granted to Rambabu, indicating a glimmer of hope amidst the political strife.
