Tirupati: In a recent press conference, former TTD Chairman Bhuman Karunakara Reddy accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of making unfounded remarks regarding the quality of ghee supplied at a low price. Reddy questioned the credibility of the claims made by Naidu, who suggested that pure ghee could be provided for as little as 300 rupees, asserting that such a price is only indicative of adulterated ghee.

Reddy specifically pointed to past dealings with Heritage Foods, the company owned by Naidu’s family, and raised concerns about the ghee supplied from the Indapur dairy. He highlighted that the Indapur facility had been involved in questionable practices, stating, “What about the ghee from Indapur? Was there any adulteration?” His remarks suggest that serious truths are beginning to emerge about the quality of ghee supplied in the region.

During the interaction with the media, Reddy provided historical context, noting that the Heritage franchise had supplied ghee at the price of 278 rupees per kilogram in 2015. However, he revealed that Indapur was disqualified in 2016, raising eyebrows about the subsequent contracts. He noted that the same company managed to secure a deal for ghee at an astonishing 658 rupees per kilogram by December 16, 2025, further complicating the narrative.

Reddy also mentioned that between 2013 and 2019, Premier Agri Dairy had supplied a staggering 4 million kilograms of ghee, priced around 300 rupees. He drew attention to the questionable practices between the two firms, alleging that they had collectively supplied 50.4 million kilograms of ghee. “Is the ghee supplied from Indapur adulterated?” he questioned, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Reddy’s comments imply that the low-priced ghee offered under Naidu’s leadership might indeed be of inferior quality. He recalled Naidu’s repeated assertions that pure ghee could not be sold for less than 2000 rupees, suggesting that the current pricing raises significant doubts about authenticity. “How can ghee priced at 300 rupees suddenly escalate to 658 rupees?” he asked, challenging the integrity of the supply chain.

Furthermore, Reddy criticized the lack of transparency from Chandrababu and Heritage Foods, suggesting that they are attempting to obscure their involvement in the matter. He stated, “No matter how much they try to hide the truth, it eventually comes to light.” The implications of these allegations could have far-reaching consequences for both the government and the Heritage brand if substantiated.

As the scrutiny intensifies around the ghee supply issues in Tirupati, many are calling for a thorough investigation to ensure quality and transparency in the dairy industry. The public and stakeholders are keen to see how Naidu and Heritage Foods respond to these serious accusations. With Reddy’s revelations, the dialogue surrounding food quality and corporate accountability is expected to gain momentum in the coming days.
