Guntur, February 4 – Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, visited Guntur today to assess the damage inflicted on the residence and office of Ambati Rambabu, a prominent party member. The visit comes in the wake of a violent attack allegedly carried out by members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which Jagan condemned as an attempt on Rambabu’s life.
Jagan expressed his dismay upon witnessing the destruction of Rambabu’s property and car, emphasizing the severity of the assault. Following his inspection, he met with Rambabu’s family, offering them condolences and assuring them of the party’s unwavering support during this challenging time. “Do not lose heart; the party stands firmly behind you,” he reassured them.
In a subsequent press conference, Jagan criticized the current administration, claiming that a “jungle raj” is prevailing in the state. He condemned the attacks on various leaders, including Rambabu, Jogi Ramesh, and others, labeling these incidents as indicative of a lawless environment. “What wrong have these leaders done to deserve such treatment?” he questioned, highlighting the need for accountability.
Jagan also addressed accusations made against former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his family regarding allegations that undermined the sanctity of the Tirumala shrine. He dismissed these claims as fabricated, asserting that two government laboratories had certified the purity of the offerings, contradicting the allegations made by Naidu. Furthermore, he pointed out that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had cleared individuals involved, questioning why arrest warrants were not issued for those truly culpable.
Referring to the recent violence, Jagan recounted the specifics of the attacks, asserting that they were orchestrated in collusion with local law enforcement. He alleged that the police’s failure to intervene during the violent acts demonstrated complicity in the conspiracy. “Is this not an attempt to murder? If the police had acted responsibly, such destruction would not have occurred,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for justice.
In light of the escalating tension, Jagan warned that the current government’s reign will not last indefinitely. He called for unity among party members and the public to combat the prevailing chaos. “If these circumstances continue, we will mobilize for a state-wide protest,” he declared, urging citizens to stand firm against what he termed “self-serving politics” by the opposition.
Amidst the turmoil, Jagan’s visit was met with overwhelming support from the public, who thronged to see him despite government attempts to obstruct his path. His journey from Tadepalli to Rambabu’s residence took nearly six hours due to the sheer number of supporters and numerous barricades set up by authorities. Nevertheless, Jagan’s supporters remained undeterred, turning Guntur into a sea of people, rallying behind their leader.
As the political landscape intensifies, Jagan’s visit and the subsequent media interactions highlight the growing unrest and discontent among the populace regarding the current administration’s handling of security and law enforcement. The coming days are likely to see further developments as tensions rise and the opposition parties brace for an escalating confrontation.
