Following the backlash over producer Shirish Reddy’s remarks regarding Game Changer, senior producer Dil Raju has come forward to clarify the situation and reaffirm their long-standing relationship with Ram Charan and his family. Speaking during promotions for his upcoming film Thammudu, Dil Raju addressed fan concerns and shed light on the intent behind the controversial comments.
The controversy began when Shirish Reddy, in a recent interview, expressed disappointment that neither Ram Charan nor director Shankar reached out to the production team following the film’s underwhelming box office performance. He also mentioned that their banner, Sri Venkateswara Creations, faced financial strain after the release. The comments quickly went viral, sparking criticism from Mega fans, who accused Shirish of disrespecting the actor.
Dil Raju explained that it was Shirish’s first media interaction and he was emotionally overwhelmed while discussing the financial pressure the team endured. “He was caught off-guard by a few manipulative questions, and his choice of words wasn’t ideal. But there was no bad intention,” he clarified. “Ram Charan stood by Game Changer even when we advised him to consider another project. His commitment and support were unwavering.”
In a separate statement, Shirish Reddy issued a public apology, saying, “It came to my notice that my words were misunderstood on social media and hurt a few Mega fans. I want to clarify that Ram Charan gave his full support for our film Game Changer. We’ve always shared a warm relationship with Chiranjeevi garu’s family. If I unintentionally hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologize.”
To reassure fans further, Dil Raju also confirmed a new collaboration with Ram Charan. “We carry the guilt that Game Changer didn’t live up to expectations. We will fulfill that by doing another film with Charan. An official announcement will be made soon,” he said at the Thammudu pre-release event.
The production house hopes that the apology and clarification will help mend ties with fans and move forward with positive energy as they gear up for the next big project.
