‘SC Categorization: CM Revanth’s Role Denied’
Hyderabad: The role of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC) has come under heavy criticism from BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha. In a meeting held at her residence on Thursday, Kavitha made key remarks regarding the ongoing discussions surrounding the categorization of SCs.
During the meeting, Kavitha emphatically stated, “There is no role for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the categorization of SCs. Neither Prime Minister Modi nor CM Revanth Reddy has contributed anything towards this categorization process. It is the Supreme Court ruling that has paved the way for the categorization.” She urged for the immediate release of the Shamim Akhtar Commission report, stressing the need to expedite the categorization process.
Kavitha further highlighted her concerns, saying, “We should not create a divide among Dalits. It is imperative that categorization does not lead to injustice for anyone. CM Revanth Reddy has manipulated the situation by claiming he is working on SC categorization.” She pointed out that the chief minister is allegedly linking categorization efforts with job opportunities, further complicating matters.
“There should not be any delay in implementing the job calendar, and it is concerning that six months have passed since the court’s judgment without any action being taken,” she added. Vitalizing her criticism, Kavitha mentioned that people find it hard to trust Revanth Reddy’s assurances, citing that he had to bring Priyanka Gandhi from Delhi to secure guarantees. “He has deceived Dalit families, promising INR 12 lakhs instead of the promised 10 lakhs,” Kavitha stated.
She accused the Chief Minister of failing to run the government effectively, asserting that he has plunged the state into debt and has severely affected the state’s financial situation. Kavitha insisted that the funds already allocated for Dalit Bandhu by KCR must be released immediately. “If he has the courage, he should demand the Dalit Bandhu funds for 18,000 Dalit families. These funds should be released before presenting the budget,” she declared.
Kavitha also criticized the budgetary allocations, revealing that while 33,000 crores were earmarked for SCs, only a meager 9,800 crores have been spent so far. She stressed the importance of KCR providing legal guarantees to the SC and ST sub-plans in the budget.
“The government led by Revanth Reddy lacks compassion and is uninspired by humanity,” Kavitha highlighted. She stated that his narrow vision only accommodates the higher strata of society, as evidenced by his failure to pay homage to the 125-foot statue of Ambedkar with a flower garland.
“By doing so, he is dishonoring the legacy of Ambedkar,” she claimed. Kavitha called for the entire Cabinet to pay homage to the Ambedkar statue before Ambedkar Jayanti, warning, “If they fail to do so, we will break down the closed gates of the government and honor Ambedkar ourselves.”
Kavitha further questioned, “Will a Chief Minister who does not honor Ambedkar understand our hunger?” She noted KCR’s continuous emphasis on uplifting marginalized communities and supporting the poorer sections of society, stating that he has introduced the Dalit Bandhu scheme with the intention of elevating the Dalits.
While concluding, Kavitha expressed optimism that the BRS party will regain power in the coming years, attributing the possibility of a separate Telangana to the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar. “The vision of Ambedkar is essential to ensure that all sections are empowered,” she asserted, leaving the audience with a call for change and a commitment to uphold the rights of the marginalized.
