Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, criticized the Congress government for failing to implement the six guarantees promised during the elections, despite being in power for two and a half years. He made these remarks following a joint awareness program held for BRS MLAs and MLCs at the Golconda Resort on the outskirts of Hyderabad. KTR demanded that the ruling party support the private member bill that BRS plans to introduce in the assembly sessions starting Monday, aimed at exposing Congress’s stance.
KTR emphasized the significance of the upcoming budget presented by the Congress government, stating that it is crucial as they approach their third year in office. He pointed out the lack of progress in fulfilling the promised guarantees, highlighting that the government has been holding assembly sessions without any committee meetings for the past two years. “The chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee has been given to someone who betrayed our party, while 14 assembly committees, including select and standing committees, remain pending,” he stated.
He accused the government of employing bulldozer tactics without filling important positions such as Deputy Speaker and Chief Whip. KTR also criticized the Congress for distorting figures in assembly sessions and conducting meetings based on falsehoods and misinformation. “The awareness programs organized by BRS aim to strongly confront the Congress government’s theatrics while ignoring the promises made to the public. We will hold the government accountable for issues such as the demolition of houses in Khammam district and the plight of Musi flood victims,” he added.
KTR pledged that BRS would expose the Congress’s misleading claims regarding financial statistics and how they present non-existent debts as existent. He also mentioned that the government has been claiming a lack of funds for the implementation of the six guarantees while facilitating rampant corruption disguised as Musi rejuvenation. “We are opposing the corruption happening under the guise of beautification,” he asserted.
He specifically targeted Congress leader Revanth Reddy, accusing him of initiating the Musi rejuvenation project to divert funds to Delhi. “Revanth Reddy’s words hold no value. The Chief Minister, who has destroyed the state’s economy, is now talking about the ‘night economy’,” KTR remarked, adding that Reddy’s administration has turned the state into a disaster. He made a bold statement, promising to resign if Congress constructs even a single house in their tenure.
The awareness program concluded with discussions on various strategies to address the Congress government’s failures in the assembly. KTR was joined by Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Banda Prakash, Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council S. Madhusudana Chari, and other party leaders, including Deputy Floor Leaders Harish Rao and Sabitha Indra Reddy, who also spoke on various topics. KTR concluded by asserting that BRS would continue to organize more programs to coordinate effectively among its members in the assembly and council in the future.
