Kollywood actor Vijay is currently embroiled in a divorce case with his wife, Sangita, which is under the jurisdiction of the court. Recently, Sangita filed a petition requesting that Vijay be allowed to stay at home until the court delivers its verdict. This request has led to intense trolling of Sangita’s lawyer by Vijay’s fans, who are taking to social media to express their discontent.
In response to the backlash, Chennai High Court lawyer Saranya Natarajan took to social media to clarify her position regarding the case. She assured followers that she is not representing Sangita and that claims suggesting otherwise are misleading. “I am not Sangita’s lawyer. There have been false promotions stating that I am appearing on her behalf in court,” she stated. Saranya revealed that the trolling began after she posted about the ongoing trends in the film industry, linking the cases of Vijay and fellow actor Jayam Ravi.
Despite the trolling she faced, Saranya emphasized that no one had instructed her to speak about Vijay. “If I wanted to, I could comment on the legal matters, but I have chosen to refrain,” she noted. Saranya expressed her desire to share her opinion regarding the divorce case, particularly highlighting the importance of supporting women in their struggles. “On the very day Sangita filed her petition for a stay-at-home order, people were celebrating International Women’s Day, while another woman was fighting for justice,” she pointed out.
Saranya expressed concern over the online behavior of some fans who targeted Sangita. “It’s disheartening to see that while ordinary people extend their sympathy towards her, a few fans resort to bullying,” she said. She added that her motivations are not politically driven, stating, “I have never spoken about political parties on television. Even during the tragic incident in Karur where 41 lives were lost, I did not want to politicize it.” Saranya affirmed her support for Sangita as both a woman and a lawyer.
In her closing remarks, Saranya stressed the importance of empathy and respect over blind fandom. “I believe that compassion, respect, and justice are more significant than following someone under the guise of admiration. This is not politics; it’s humanity,” she asserted. However, some Vijay fans reacted negatively to Saranya’s statements, firing back that she has no right to comment on Vijay and labeling her thoughts about Sangita as shameful.
The ongoing saga continues to unfold, with both sides garnering passionate support from their respective fans. As the court proceedings progress, the public remains divided in their opinions, reflecting the complexities of celebrity culture and personal struggles within the limelight.
