Vijay Deverakonda, along with his wife Rashmika, made a grand return to his hometown Tummanapet in the Nagarkurnool district, where they celebrated their recent marriage with local festivities. The couple was warmly welcomed by the villagers, who were excited to see Vijay back in his ancestral home after his wedding. During their visit, a Satyanarayana Swamy ritual was held at their newly constructed farmhouse, where traditional housewarming ceremonies were conducted with much devotion, including circumambulations around a sacred Tulsi plant.

However, the event sparked controversy when it was reported that non-vegetarian dishes were served during the feast organized for the villagers and fans. Critics took to social media to express their disapproval, questioning the appropriateness of serving non-vegetarian food during a religious ceremony typically accompanied by vegetarian offerings. While the traditional customs dictate that only vegetarian meals should be served during such rituals, local villagers were reportedly delighted with the feast, praising Vijay for the quality of the food and the warm hospitality extended to everyone.

Supporters on social media defended Vijay, arguing that customs can vary by region and that Telangana has its own unique culinary traditions. They noted that many families in the region serve non-vegetarian food at celebrations following religious ceremonies. It was explained that the dinner was prepared only after the completion of the pooja, indicating that the meal was a separate event from the ritual itself. Observers highlighted that it is common in many Telangana households to host a feast with meat dishes the day after a religious ceremony.

Despite the criticisms, Vijay Deverakonda expressed his joy in honoring his roots and community. He shared that even though he has lived away from Tummanapet for over three decades, the bond with his hometown remains unbreakable. He reminisced about celebrating his first birthday in the same village, fulfilling his father’s wish to build a house there. After the pooja, he was eager to host a feast for his family, friends, and local residents, inviting everyone to share a meal and receive blessings.

In addition to the celebrations, Vijay announced a scholarship program for students who excelled academically in the 9th and 10th grades at the local school, promising to extend this initiative to 44 schools in the Achampet area starting next year. This gesture reflects his commitment to giving back to the community that has supported him throughout his life.

As the festivities continue to unfold, Vijay Deverakonda’s return to his roots has not only brought joy to his village but has also sparked discussions about the intersection of tradition and modernity in regional customs. While some may criticize the blending of practices, others celebrate the evolution of cultural expressions within their communities.
