Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has recently come under legal scrutiny as a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against her. The warrant stems from allegations that she violated a contract related to financial dealings dating back to 2017. Despite multiple summons from the court, Patel has failed to appear, prompting the latest legal action.
The controversy originated when Patel was hired to perform at a family wedding for businessman Ayush Agarwal in 2017. According to reports, the event management company, owned by Pawan Kumar Verma, paid Patel an advance of ₹14.5 lakh for her performance. Furthermore, arrangements were made for her stay at a luxury hotel on Delhi Road in Moradabad. However, in a surprising turn of events, Patel did not show up for the event, leaving the organizers in a lurch.
In the aftermath, Patel assured Verma that she would refund the full amount paid to her. However, it was reported that she only returned ₹10 lakh, while a cheque for the remaining ₹4.5 lakh later bounced, leading Verma to seek legal action. As a result, the additional civil judge of the junior division court issued several summons to Patel, but she did not comply. Consequently, the court has now issued a non-bailable warrant to ensure her appearance.
Ameesha Patel’s attorney, Abhishek Sharma, responded to the allegations, asserting that the contract issue was resolved back in 2017. He claimed that Patel had already refunded the total amount agreed upon and criticized the current legal proceedings as unnecessary. He emphasized that the situation should have been settled long ago and expressed hope for a swift resolution.
In a statement released through her social media channels, Patel addressed the situation directly. She stated, “The settlement regarding financial transactions with Pawan Verma was completed long ago, and he even signed a deed confirming this. I paid the agreed amount a long time ago. However, it appears he is making false allegations and filing cases against me.” She further mentioned that her lawyers would take appropriate criminal action against Verma for what she described as fraudulent claims, urging him to cease making false accusations.
The ongoing legal saga highlights the complexities of contractual agreements in the entertainment industry, especially when personal and professional interests collide. As Patel navigates this legal challenge, her response has sparked conversations about accountability and the importance of adhering to professional commitments. The court’s decision to issue a non-bailable warrant underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the need for all parties involved to seek a resolution.
As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how both Patel and Verma will address the legal implications of the case. The actress’s next steps, as well as her public perception, may be significantly impacted by the outcome of this legal battle, marking a critical juncture in her career.
