In a vigorous denunciation of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has expressed outrage over a recent horrific incident involving the sexual assault and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Madanapalle. Jagan’s comments, made through a post on social media platform ‘X’, call out the government for its failure to protect vulnerable citizens, particularly women and children.

The incident in question has sparked widespread condemnation, with Jagan questioning the government’s accountability and response to such heinous crimes. He stated, “Is it not shameful for you and your government that a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and subsequently murdered, only to be disposed of in a water drum? Why couldn’t the police save the child despite complaints of her disappearance?” His words resonate with a growing frustration among citizens regarding the safety of their communities.

Jagan highlighted several recent cases of violence against minors, including the sexual assault and murder of a nine-year-old tribal girl in Nandyal district, and a three-year-old girl in YSR Kadapa district. He lamented the increasing frequency of such incidents since Chandrababu returned to power, emphasizing that the government has taken a lax approach to these critical issues. “The administration seems to take these incidents lightly, with a tendency to make flashy announcements in the media and then swiftly move on,” he stated.

Criticizing the government’s failure to ensure public safety, he urged Chandrababu to wake up and take immediate action to protect women and children. “You need to focus on safeguarding lives and instilling a sense of security in the community,” he asserted, pressing the Chief Minister to prioritize peace and safety. Jagan’s remarks reflect a growing demand for accountability and effective governance in the face of rising crime against women and children.

Jagan further criticized the state’s law enforcement, alleging that police are being used to intimidate those who question the government. He claimed that when former ministers or others raise concerns, they face retaliation in the form of police action, including destruction of property and even attempts on their lives. “Your attention appears to be elsewhere, as the safety of girls and women is not a priority for you,” he charged, highlighting systemic failures within the government.

Moreover, he accused Chandrababu’s administration of being more interested in publicity and filling their own pockets rather than addressing the grievances of the public. “Who will pay attention to these brutalities? Your political governance has tainted the police and other systems, leaving women and children unprotected,” he argued, pressing the necessity for a government that prioritizes the well-being of its citizens over self-interest.

As the conversation around women’s safety continues to intensify, the recent comments by Jagan underscore a critical moment for the state. His passionate appeal for accountability and protection for the vulnerable resonates with many who are demanding action from their leaders. With the clock ticking, the pressure is on the government to respond effectively and restore faith in the safety of its citizens.
