In a dramatic turn of events during the municipal elections in Sangareddy, tensions escalated at polling booth number 34. Former MLA Jagga Reddy stormed into the booth, claiming he would halt the polling after receiving reports that a police officer had allegedly grabbed the collar of the Congress candidate.

Witnesses reported that Jagga Reddy confronted the police, accusing them of misconduct and engaging in a heated argument. The situation intensified, leading to a scuffle between Reddy and the police, prompting a significant presence of Congress leaders at the scene to support him.

Jagga Reddy expressed his frustration towards the Circle Inspector, Shivakumar, demanding his presence at the polling booth. He criticized the police for allegedly coming to the area only to create law and order problems, and accused the police of supporting the BRS candidate in the rigging of the elections.

Reddy’s demands echoed throughout the area as he called for the cancellation of the elections within the ward, asserting that the integrity of the voting process had been compromised. This incident was part of a larger trend of unrest during the municipal elections across Telangana, where multiple municipalities witnessed similar confrontations.

Reports indicated that activists from BRS, Congress, BJP, and AIMIM clashed in various locations, with some incidents escalating to physical assaults. In Mahabubabad’s 14th ward, a scuffle broke out between supporters of the Congress and BRS candidates, illustrating the charged atmosphere surrounding the elections.

In Bhupalpally, polling centers were on high alert as tensions rose over allegations that BRS supporters were distributing money to sway voters. Local residents tipped off the police, who quickly arrived at the polling station, resulting in BRS supporters abandoning cash as they fled the scene. Authorities seized over one lakh rupees in cash, further emphasizing the tumultuous nature of the day’s events.

As the elections unfolded, the situation remains fluid, with political leaders and party workers urging calm while grappling with the challenges of maintaining order. Observers continue to watch closely, as the outcomes of these elections could significantly impact the political landscape in Telangana.
