In a significant political statement, Union Minister for Coal, G. Kishan Reddy, declared that the upcoming municipal elections in the state will primarily be a contest between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking in Godavarikhani and later at a press conference hosted by BJP leader S. Kumar in Sri Rampur, Reddy asserted that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lost its foothold in the state.

Reddy emphasized the BJP’s commitment to the coal workers of Singareni, promising to refund the income tax already levied on them and to abolish it completely in the future if the party comes to power in the state. His remarks came during a campaign rally on Monday, where he rallied support for the BJP’s candidates in the region.

The minister pointed out alarming conditions prevailing in Singareni, stating that after discussions with local authorities, numerous issues came to light. He revealed that the government owes over ₹51,000 crores, without a single paisa being paid for coal and electricity supplied. He criticized the performance of the organization and highlighted that various labor unions have openly shared their concerns about the ongoing crisis.

Reddy also took a jab at the Congress leadership, suggesting that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has adopted the moniker “Revanth Khan” solely to attract Muslim votes. He accused the Congress of being under the influence of the Majlis and claimed that both the previous BRS and current Congress governments have exploited the Singareni company, turning it into an ATM for their parties.

In a pointed critique, Reddy mocked the comments made by K. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), suggesting that she is out of touch with reality. He asserted that the BRS is fading from the political landscape of the state, leaving only the Congress and BJP to contend for power.

Reddy further accused the Congress of deceiving the public by ignoring the promises it made and warned that only by electing the BJP can the Ramagundam region experience development. He asserted that the BJP will not tolerate corruption, commission, or deceit associated with the Congress party, reiterating that the state government’s leaders are misappropriating resources from Singareni.

During a corner meeting at the bus stand in Sri Rampur, Reddy urged the electorate to take action against both the Congress and BRS parties, suggesting that if they win, the people would suffer further. He called upon the public to rally behind the BJP to safeguard Singareni from exploitation.

The campaign also saw participation from notable BJP leaders, including state vice-president Raghunath Rao, election in-charge Premender Reddy, and several candidates, emphasizing a united front as the elections approach. With the political landscape shifting, all eyes are now on how the Congress and BJP will strategize their campaigns in the upcoming municipal elections.
