Vikarabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced plans to revive the Pranahita-Chevella project, originally designed by the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. This initiative aims to provide water to the unified Rangareddy district, addressing long-standing concerns over water availability in the region. Speaking at a public meeting titled ‘Janapalan–Pragati Bata’ held in Narayanpur of Vikarabad district on Saturday, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this project for regional development.

During his address, Revanth Reddy criticized the previous government, led by K. Chandrashekar Rao, questioning why the Pranahita-Chevella project was not completed. He highlighted the need for 300 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water for the district and expressed frustration over changes in the project design that have left agricultural lands dry. The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to challenge Sabitha Indra Reddy, who recently joined the BRS, regarding her silence on the project’s stalled progress.

In addition to the Pranahita-Chevella project, Revanth Reddy announced that land acquisition for the K.P. Lakshmidevipalli project, part of the Palamuru lift irrigation scheme, would commence soon. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the agricultural sector thrives by providing necessary water resources. Reddy criticized both the BJP and BRS for their handling of water projects, alleging that important initiatives were halted under the previous administration.

The Chief Minister pledged to bring Godavari water to Chevella, Vikarabad, Parigi, Tandur, and Kodangal, transforming these areas into lush agricultural lands. Furthermore, he revealed plans to develop temple tourism in Ananthagiri, confirming that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) had already been established with a company to initiate this project. He expressed his vision of transforming Vikarabad into an international tourist destination, enhancing the district’s appeal and economic prospects.

Reddy also discussed the construction of radial roads connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the district, along with the ongoing development of the Triple-R project traversing through the region. He took a moment to address allegations of collusion between the BJP and BRS, stating that such “dark deals” were common knowledge among the public.

In a bold statement, he remarked on the credibility of Union Minister Kishan Reddy, suggesting he should use his full name, Kalvakuntla Kishan Rao. Reddy accused KCR of deceiving various communities, particularly the Scheduled Castes, by promising them representation while failing to deliver on those commitments. He emphasized that the government had appointed members from those communities to significant positions, including the Speaker’s role.

As the meeting concluded, Reddy assured attendees, including prominent leaders like Speaker Prasad Kumar and Minister Sridhar Babu, that he would prioritize the development of municipalities in the area. He promised a dedicated approach to improving local infrastructure and services while reaffirming his commitment to the region’s growth and prosperity.
