In a recent political rally held in Kamareddy and Sirisilla, K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), made bold statements targeting opposition leaders, particularly Revanth Reddy of the Congress party. Rao accused Reddy of being a puppet of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and emphasized that he has never truly represented the Congress. He suggested that Revanth, instead of fulfilling his political commitments, is now focused on criticizing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) while abandoning the promises made to the people of Telangana.
During the roadshows and rallies held from Saturday afternoon into the evening, Rao stressed the need for accountability from the opposition. He pointed out that Revanth Reddy is wasting his time criticizing KCR instead of addressing the six guarantees and 420 promises made to the people before the elections. He accused the Congress leadership of failing to deliver on key issues, particularly regarding women’s safety and welfare, stating that the government only offered a free bus pass while imposing higher charges on male passengers.
Rao further criticized Congress for allegedly deceiving voters by promising gold for marriages of daughters but failing to fulfill these commitments. He highlighted the negligence of Congress leaders, whom he described as thieves, pointing out that they have manipulated the needs of the community for electoral gain. He described instances where politicians like Revanth Reddy turned their backs on the people who supported them after receiving significant benefits from KCR’s government, including a substantial investment of ₹10,000 crores in development for the constituency.
Addressing the allegations against his government, Rao challenged the opposition to put their money where their mouth is, suggesting that if they were genuinely concerned about the welfare of the people, they should resign from their positions instead of engaging in political theatrics. He also called for action against Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who switched parties, for betraying the voters who had supported him in his previous role under the BRS banner.
Rao emphasized the importance of electing leaders based on merit rather than caste or religion, urging voters to choose candidates who genuinely care for their welfare. He recalled his experiences growing up and how he understood the struggles of the working class, promising to continue supporting the needy with initiatives like the ₹2,000 pension scheme for the elderly.
The rally also witnessed several former legislators joining the BRS, highlighting the party’s growing influence. Rao welcomed these new members with pink shawls, symbolizing their entry into the BRS fold. This event not only showcased the party’s solidarity but also served as a platform to reiterate their commitment to development and governance that resonates with the people of Telangana.
As the political landscape heats up ahead of the upcoming elections, the BRS continues to assert its position while challenging the opposition to present viable alternatives. Rao’s fiery speech in Bansuwada has set the tone for a competitive electoral season, with promises of accountability and development at the forefront of their campaign strategy.
