In a fiery address, former minister Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, questioning its effectiveness and leadership. Speaking at various corner meetings during his campaign for the upcoming municipal elections, Rao posed a provocative question to the audience: “Do we want the provision of food by KCR or do we want the Congress, which is just a name but has done nothing?” He criticized the Congress for its policies, asserting that aside from free bus services, their governance was nothing but “tussu,” a term implying emptiness or futility.
Rao’s comments came as he campaigned in the Patancheru constituency, specifically targeting the municipalities of Gadapotharam and Gummadidala. He accused Congress leaders, particularly Revanth Reddy, of spreading negativity and misinformation, implying that Reddy would be remembered in history as a “Chief Minister of abuses.” The former minister didn’t hold back in his criticism, claiming that Reddy was merely spewing venom without any basis for his allegations.
Pointing out the stark contrast between the governance of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and that of the Congress party, Rao emphasized that while KCR had established a job calendar for the state, Revanth’s leadership was characterized by a ‘scam calendar.’ He outlined a series of alleged scams attributed to Revanth’s party, detailing a timeline of corrupt practices from January through December, covering various sectors such as civil supplies, RTC, and land issues.
Rao further accused Revanth Reddy of trying to exploit the state’s resources and the lands of Dalits, labeling the Congress as a party associated with hardships, particularly for the working class. He stated that citizens were suffering from power outages, and the Congress was again promising holidays from power payments, which he viewed as a ploy to deceive the working populace.
In his speech, Rao pledged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would take responsibility for local development in Gadapotharam, promising to establish health facilities and improve infrastructure such as roads and drains. He called on the citizens to support BRS candidates in order to ensure better governance and services, emphasizing that the current Congress leadership had failed to deliver on these essential needs.
Rao’s remarks about Revanth Reddy were particularly sharp, as he mocked his confidence and questioned his credibility. “Revanth speaks as if he has the votes of donkeys,” Rao said, challenging Reddy’s ability to win public support. He accused Reddy of being arrogant and disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary citizens, asserting that KCR had previously increased land rates, while under Congress rule, they had plummeted.
The former minister concluded his address by reiterating the commitment of the BRS to uplift the people of Telangana, highlighting the need for responsible leadership that focuses on the welfare of the citizens rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. As the municipal elections approach, Rao’s comments encapsulate the intense political rivalry and the high stakes involved in shaping the future governance of Telangana.
