In a dramatic turn of events in Telangana, K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister, has made explosive allegations against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Speaking to the media at the Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Rao accused Reddy of awarding major projects worth thousands of crores to a shell company that had declared bankruptcy.

Rao’s claims come in the wake of a series of corruption scandals that he asserted have surfaced since the Congress party came to power as the main opposition party two years ago. He outlined various scams that his party has uncovered, including a staggering 1.5 trillion rupees scam associated with the Muzaffarabad project, the Laggacharla scam, and issues regarding the HILT policy. Additionally, he referenced the Amrit scam and a significant conspiracy in Singareni, stating that these revelations are just the tip of the iceberg.

The BRS leader expressed concern over the ongoing inquiries that his party members have faced in recent weeks, leading them to suspect that there was more to discover. “Digging deeper, we found evidence of a scam,” Rao stated, emphasizing that the bankrupt infrastructure company in question has received contracts, raising serious ethical questions about the Chief Minister’s involvement. He pointed out that contracts were being awarded to a company that is unable to pay its employees, which he deemed outrageous.

Rao further detailed that the company, which was raided by the Income Tax department on September 27, 2018, raised eyebrows due to its questionable dealings. He noted that before Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister, he was often seen traveling in a vehicle registered under the name of this very company. Despite its financial collapse in 2023, Rao questioned how such a company could be awarded projects worth over 6,000 crores. “This isn’t merely a quid pro quo situation,” he asserted, demanding accountability for the decisions made by the current government.

Highlighting the seriousness of the issue, Rao also recalled directives from the Supreme Court to investigate the alleged financial discrepancies involving the company. He urged that not only should these contracts be thoroughly examined, but those responsible for awarding them should be held accountable.

As the political landscape in Telangana heats up, these allegations could have significant implications for the current administration. Rao’s revelations, if proven true, could shake the foundations of the ruling party and ignite further scrutiny into the dealings of those in power. Observers are keenly watching how the government will respond to these accusations and whether there will be any repercussions for those involved in the alleged scams.
