Srikakulam: Former Speaker Tammineni Sitaram has expressed serious concerns regarding the state of governance in Andhra Pradesh, questioning whether any true administration exists. Reflecting on his 45 years in politics, Sitaram noted that the recent developments in the state are alarming and unprecedented.

He highlighted that since the current government came to power, there has been a marked increase in violence and lawlessness. “Is there governance in this state or not?” he asked, emphasizing the need for accountability and action. Sitaram condemned the recent attacks on the residences of political figures like Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh, labeling these incidents as unfortunate and indicative of a larger issue.

In his remarks, Sitaram pointed out that even after the attack on Ambati Rambabu’s home, local law enforcement, including the district Superintendent of Police, failed to take any significant action against the perpetrators. This lack of response, he argues, sets a dangerous precedent and calls for immediate intervention from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Furthermore, Sitaram accused the government of engaging in diversionary politics that exacerbates chaos in the state. He raised eyebrows at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report that cleared the Tirumala laddu of any tampering, questioning why there is still controversy surrounding it. “If Chandrababu Naidu had the dignity to accept the CBI report and put an end to these baseless allegations, it would have reflected well on his administration,” he stated.

The former Speaker also addressed the issue of illegal land acquisitions under the YSR Congress Party’s government, citing the case of Gita University. He criticized MP Bharat for allegedly being involved in land encroachments despite his current position, calling it a disgraceful act that undermines the democratic process.

Sitaram lamented that the democratic system has been effectively undermined, claiming that the governance style of Chandrababu Naidu resembles that of a “dictatorial regime.” He accused the Chief Minister of incurring unmanageable debt for Amaravati, questioning the rationale behind such financial decisions. “The mistakes made will eventually require payment,” he warned.

He also criticized Naidu’s priorities, stating that he seems to have time only for praise and adulation from actor Pawan Kalyan, rather than addressing pressing issues within the state. “At the very least, one should acknowledge mistakes when they occur,” Sitaram concluded, urging for a return to responsible governance and accountability in Andhra Pradesh.
