In a recent media interaction, noted music director and actor Raghu Kunche shared his thoughts on his journey in the film industry, revealing insights into his latest film, ‘Devagudi.’ Kunche, who originally entered the industry with aspirations of becoming a singer, has worked as a music director for nearly 40 films, and is now embracing acting opportunities as they come. “I never aimed to become an actor; it just happened. I don’t consider myself a great talent as an actor, but I strive to do justice to my role sincerely,” he stated.
Raghu Kunche plays the character Veerareddy in ‘Devagudi’, a film produced under the Pushyami Film Makers banner with Bellam Sudhareddy as the producer and writer-director Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy at the helm. The film features actors Shaurya, Narasimha, and Anushree in pivotal roles and is set to release on the 30th of this month. During the press interaction, Kunche highlighted his efforts to embody the character authentically, mentioning that he performed his dialogues in the Rayalaseema dialect as directed by Ramakrishna Reddy.
Reflecting on his experience during the shoot, Kunche expressed a unique sense of pride, recounting, “While I was driving in a jeep, there were about twenty SUVs and jeeps following alongside. Traveling in such a convoy felt personally gratifying.” However, he also mentioned that some action sequences included bomb blasts, which induced a sense of fear during filming. Additionally, Kunche revealed that he composed and sang a song for the film, stating his desire to take on roles similar to those in ‘The Family Man’ featuring Manoj Bajpayee.
Director and producer Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy commented on the film’s thematic approach, saying, “There have been many films based on faction narratives over the past 30 years. While our movie does include elements of faction, it predominantly explores themes of friendship, love, and family emotions.” He also noted that the film received positive feedback from the censor board, which granted it an ‘A’ certificate with minor cuts due to some violence and a romantic song.
Reddy, who serves both as the director and producer, expressed satisfaction with the creative process, stating, “Being both the director and producer allowed me to bring the story to life as envisioned.” In a bid to encourage audiences to watch the film, he mentioned plans to distribute tickets, hoping to spread positive word-of-mouth through these initiatives.
The anticipation surrounding ‘Devagudi’ is palpable as its release date approaches, with both Raghu Kunche and Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy eager to share their cinematic creation with the public. As audiences await this intriguing blend of action, drama, and emotional storytelling, ‘Devagudi’ promises to be a memorable addition to the regional film landscape.
