In a significant meeting on Wednesday, residents of Pinnelli village, located in the Gurjala constituency, met with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This meeting comes in the wake of the brutal murder of YSRCP activist Salman, which has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, particularly against the alleged involvement of TDP goons.
During the encounter, the family of the deceased expressed their grief and anger, claiming that Salman was killed due to political rivalry. His sons, Mariadasu and Bhiksham (Praveen), along with his daughter Rahela, conveyed their devastation to Jagan, stating that their father’s untimely death has left their family in dire straits. Jagan offered words of comfort, assuring them that the party would stand by them in these trying times.
The meeting also served as a platform for the villagers to voice their concerns regarding the intimidation they have faced from TDP goons and local police. Residents recounted how they were threatened with false cases, highlighting the alarming behavior of law enforcement, which they accused of acting under political influence to undermine democratic processes.
In response to their fears, Jagan reassured the villagers that they should not live in fear or anxiety. He encouraged them to confront such harassment with courage, promising that the party’s legal cell would provide necessary legal assistance to those in need. His words aimed to empower the community in the face of adversity.
Among those present during the meeting were former MLA Kausu Mahesh Reddy, YSRCP state secretary Yenumula Muraleedhar Reddy, local leaders, and members of the legal cell, all of whom expressed solidarity with the grieving family and the affected villagers.
In a related incident, Challa Nagaraju, another YSRCP activist from the neighboring Telukutla village, also shared his ordeal with Jagan. Nagaraju had suffered severe injuries at the hands of TDP goons during the 2024 assembly elections while serving as a polling agent. The brutal attack left him wheelchair-bound after both his legs were broken. He highlighted the ongoing challenges his family faces due to his injuries and the threats from TDP members.
Moved by Nagaraju’s plight, Jagan reiterated his commitment to support him and ensure that the party would assist in any way possible. This meeting not only underscored the escalating tensions in the region but also reflected the YSRCP’s efforts to bolster its support base by addressing the grievances of its members and their families.
As political tensions continue to rise in Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP’s response to these incidents will be closely monitored, especially in light of the upcoming elections. The party’s ability to reassure its supporters and address their concerns could play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape in the region.
