In a shocking incident highlighting factionalism within the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a violent attack occurred in Sundupalle mandal of the YSR district. Party members loyal to state secretary Chappidi Mahesh Naidu reportedly assaulted Rayavaram Sarpanch Sharif at his residence, leaving him with severe injuries. Following the attack, Sharif was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Speaking after his hospitalization, Sarpanch Sharif alleged that the assault was motivated by jealousy over the support his brother, Rafiq, a local minority leader, receives. He claimed that the followers of Chappidi Brothers launched the attack specifically to undermine his position and influence within the community. “Not only did they assault us, but they also filed false cases against us,” Sharif expressed with evident distress.

Sharif condemned the actions of the attackers, suggesting that their motives were rooted in a broader desire to suppress the progress of minority communities in the area. He accused the TDP faction of deliberately targeting them to prevent their growth and representation within the party. His remarks reflect a growing sentiment among some party members who feel marginalized and overlooked.

In light of the violence, law enforcement has increased their presence around Sharif’s home, conducting picketing to maintain order and ensure the safety of the local residents. The incident has raised concerns about the rising tensions within the TDP, prompting calls for internal reforms and better conflict resolution mechanisms within the party.

The attack on Sarpanch Sharif not only highlights the internal strife within the TDP but also raises questions about the party’s commitment to inclusivity and support for all its members, particularly those from minority backgrounds. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how party leaders will address these issues and restore harmony among their ranks.
