The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) planned protests to highlight the struggles of farmers facing a shortage of urea fertilizer and low prices for onions and other crops. However, the protests were stopped by police with strict restrictions in many areas.

The party wanted to raise awareness about farmers’ problems, saying rising costs and poor crop prices are pushing them into crisis. But police deployed large numbers of officers, detained many activists, and stopped gatherings, saying it was for public order and safety.

Clashes broke out in some places between party workers and police. YSR Congress leaders condemned the action, saying their protests were peaceful and meant to support farmers.

Farmers say the lack of urea is causing poor harvests, while crop prices are not matching inflation, leading to big losses. Analysts believe the issue is becoming a major political topic and could affect rural voters in the coming elections.

YSR Congress has promised to continue its fight for farmers, while the government faces pressure to find solutions to the crisis.
