In a heated press conference held in Guntur, YSR Congress Party’s state general secretary, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led government of instigating violence and suppressing dissenting voices. He posed a pointed question to the ruling party, asking, “What authority have the people granted you? Is it to harass those who question you?” His remarks come amid rising tensions in the state, as various political factions clash over governance issues.
Sajjala’s criticisms were directed at the Chief Minister, who he claimed made irresponsible statements, comparing the situation in the state to “fat mixing into laddus.” He expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of accountability from the government, questioning, “How can a leader speak so carelessly?” His tone was one of indignation as he highlighted the need for responsible leadership in these turbulent times.
The YSRCP leader further alleged that the opposition party had engaged in misinformation campaigns, accusing them of putting up misleading flex boards and spreading false narratives against his party leaders. “Why were the police not able to prevent the TDP leaders from creating chaos?” he asked, suggesting that law enforcement had failed to act against the perpetrators of violence. Sajjala emphasized that if any harm were to come to their party leaders, the responsibility would lie squarely on the shoulders of those in power.
He also pointed out that despite attempts to reach out to higher police officials, there had been no response, indicating a systemic failure to address the rising violence. Sajjala insisted that there should be serious legal repercussions for those engaged in violent acts, stating, “We will fight our battle non-violently. We will seek justice through the courts and even approach the Governor if necessary.” His firm stance highlighted the ongoing struggle for political rights and safety in the region.
In addressing the outcry over unauthorized flex boards, Sajjala demanded that the police take immediate action to remove them, asserting that the DGP and Home Minister should provide answers regarding the lawlessness. He referenced specific incidents where attempts were made to attack prominent party members, stressing that the violent tendencies of the TDP must be confronted legally and firmly.
“Chandrababu’s hallmark is to create violence,” Sajjala charged, pointing to recent incidents involving MLA Galla Madhavi and claiming that orchestrated attacks were carried out under the leadership of TDP. He asserted that his party would document the names of those engaged in such criminal activities in a digital log, signaling a commitment to accountability.
As tensions rise, Sajjala’s remarks bring to light the complex and often tumultuous political landscape in Andhra Pradesh. With the YSR Congress Party vowing to counter these challenges through lawful means, the focus now shifts to how the state government will respond to these allegations and the ongoing unrest among the populace. The political drama in Andhra Pradesh continues to unfold, with both parties gearing up for what promises to be a contentious future.
