Mahesh Babu, a beloved figure in Indian cinema, is set to showcase a new side of his running style in the upcoming film ‘Varanasi,’ directed by renowned filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. Known for his unique running technique, Mahesh has won the hearts of many fans, who often try to emulate his style. However, after years in the industry, he is now undergoing a significant transformation in preparation for his role, thanks to Rajamouli’s training.
Despite having started shooting for ‘Varanasi’ two years ago, the film gained attention last November when its title was officially announced along with a three-minute teaser that hinted at the film’s storyline. The narrative is set against a backdrop that intertwines the past, present, and future, with Mahesh portraying the character of Lord Rama for a brief yet pivotal segment in the film.
In a recent interview, Mahesh revealed that he has altered his running style specifically for this role, a change that required extensive preparation. “For the role of Rama, I had to maintain a certain physique, which took nearly a year of preparation. I also trained in combat skills for two to three months. Rajamouli suggested changes to my running technique, which led me to undergo six months of training,” Mahesh explained. Remarkably, this intense dedication resulted in only two scenes being completed so far.
Mahesh Babu’s commitment to ‘Varanasi’ reflects his passion for the project, which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The film is set to hit theaters worldwide on April 7 of next year, an announcement made just days ago. With Rajamouli at the helm and M.M. Keeravani composing the music, ‘Varanasi’ promises to be a grand cinematic experience.
Notably, Karthikeya, Rajamouli’s son, is among the producers, adding a personal touch to the film’s production. Having previously focused on pan-India releases, Rajamouli aims to achieve a global hit with ‘Varanasi,’ further solidifying his reputation in the film industry.
As fans eagerly await the release, the buzz surrounding ‘Varanasi’ continues to grow, fueled by Mahesh Babu’s transformative journey and Rajamouli’s visionary direction. The collaboration is poised to set new benchmarks in Indian cinema, blending traditional storytelling with modern filmmaking techniques.
