In recent times, the Telugu film industry has seen a surge in songs featuring vulgar lyrics, often using slang popular on social media. The latest incident has stirred controversy as the so-called “Attitude Star,” actor Chandrahass, performed an explicit song live on stage in front of an audience. This act has drawn significant criticism, with many questioning the appropriateness of such content in mainstream entertainment.

One notable reaction came from JD Chakravarthy, a prominent figure in the industry, who expressed his shock during the performance. He stated that initially, he could not grasp what Chandrahass was singing. “I was in shock when he performed that song. I was enjoying the moment, and some edited clips made it look like I was cheering him on,” JD explained, urging the public to watch the full video for context. He emphasized that in such events, guests often do not pay close attention to what’s being said on stage, leading to misunderstandings.

JD further clarified that a girl sitting next to him, who did not understand Telugu, clapped along, and many assumed he was doing the same. “I do not use foul language, and I cannot tolerate it when someone else does in my presence,” he asserted. He recalled an incident where he confronted a director for using vulgar language on set, reinforcing his stance against such behavior.

“When Chandrahass was performing, I looked at Jayant, and we both shared a moment of disbelief. I thought about leaving the stage but was persuaded by Pooja Bedi to stay put. I do not support such acts of promotion,” JD clarified, making his position clear regarding Chandrahass’s performance. He criticized the notion that films could succeed through such “trash promotions,” dismissing it as a false belief.

Chandrahass, the son of television actor Prabhakar, first gained attention with his debut film “Ram Nagar Bunny.” Despite the film failing to make a significant impact, he has since branded himself as an “Attitude Star,” showcasing a unique attitude during promotional events that have drawn both admiration and ridicule. Following the controversy, he is set to release his upcoming film “Barabar Premistha” this Friday, hoping to shift the narrative surrounding his image.

This incident has sparked a larger conversation about the standards of lyrical content in Telugu cinema and the responsibilities of artists in shaping public perception. As audiences await the release of his new film, the question remains whether Chandrahass will be able to distance himself from the backlash and redefine his place in the industry.
