Andhra Pradesh Ruling Party Welcomes SIT’s Actions in Liquor Scam Case
The Andhra Pradesh government’s ruling party, the YSRCP, has expressed satisfaction with the inclusion of former IAS officer K Dhanunjay Reddy in the list of accused by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged liquor scam during their regime.
The SIT, set up by the Andhra Pradesh police, has been investigating the claims of large-scale irregularities and corrupt practices in the state’s liquor trade under the YSRCP government. The addition of Dhanunjay Reddy, a senior bureaucrat who held influential positions during the YSRCP’s tenure, has added a new twist to the high-profile case.
According to sources, the YSRCP leadership is content with the SIT’s actions, as they believe it demonstrates the government’s commitment to a fair and transparent investigation. “The party ranks are happy to see that the investigation is progressing without any bias or favoritism,” said a senior YSRCP member, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
The liquor scam case has been a major political flashpoint in Andhra Pradesh, with the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) repeatedly accusing the YSRCP government of large-scale corruption and irregularities in the state’s liquor trade. The YSRCP, on the other hand, has maintained that the investigation is being conducted impartially and that no one will be spared if found guilty.
The inclusion of Dhanunjay Reddy in the list of accused is seen as a significant development, as he was a trusted bureaucrat of the YSRCP government and held important positions such as the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL).
The SIT’s investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and charges are expected in the coming days. The YSRCP leadership has assured the public that the government will cooperate fully with the investigation and that the truth will prevail in the end.
