Telangana Minister’s Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage: Demands for Probe into Commission Payments
Hyderabad: The controversial remarks made by Telangana minister Konda Surekha have created a political storm in the state. Surekha’s statement that ministers do not sign any documents without receiving commissions has sparked widespread interest. In response, Union Minister Kishan Reddy has now demanded that the Revanth Reddy government investigate which ministers have been taking commissions and make the details public.
Speaking to the media, Kishan Reddy said that Konda Surekha’s claim that taking commissions is a common practice among ministers is distressing. This essentially amounts to an admission that ministers in the state are indeed receiving commissions. Reddy has now called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a comprehensive investigation to uncover which ministers have been taking what amounts in commissions, and to make these details public.
The latest developments come at a time when the state is also grappling with the fallout of the recent Palhgam incident in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were brutally killed by terrorist groups. Kishan Reddy condemned the inhumane act, where terrorists callously executed civilians, including a father in front of his children and a husband in front of his wife. He stated that the central government is taking this challenge to human society very seriously.
Reddy went on to highlight the recent operational successes of the Indian armed forces, including the strikes on 9 terrorist launch pads in Pakistan and the effective execution of Operation Sindhudurg. He asserted that India’s fight against terrorism has only strengthened the country, noting that 46,000 civilians have been killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir alone. The minister praised the Indian military for creating a new chapter in history, in contrast to the past when the response was limited to merely placing flowers near the photos of those killed in terrorist attacks.
Amidst the political turmoil and security challenges, Kishan Reddy emphasized that the government’s focus remains on uplifting the defense capabilities of the nation. He stated that 35% of the Indian Army’s requirements are now being met domestically, and efforts are underway to further enhance the country’s defense infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities. Reddy concluded by reiterating that the government’s ‘Tiranga Yatra’ transcends party lines, inviting all political parties, MLAs, and MPs to join in this patriotic endeavor.
