Controversy Erupts Over ‘Operation Sarhad’ – Questioning the Efficacy and Casualties

Bengaluru: The opposition Congress party has made sensational allegations regarding India’s ‘Operation Sarhad’ against Pakistan. They have claimed that the operation has not yielded any tangible benefits for India. Raising a series of questions, the party has sought clarity on the casualties and the success of the strikes.

Karnataka Congress MLA Kothur Manjunath, in a media interaction, stated, “Operation Sarhad has not provided any benefit to India. Nothing significant was achieved in this operation. They are merely boasting about it to portray it as a success. A few aircraft crossed the border and returned, that’s all. But who were the casualties in the Indian strikes? Were any of the perpetrators of the Pulwama attack among the dead? The authorities are saying one thing, while the TV channels are reporting something else. Who do we believe?”

Manjunath further questioned the claims that over 100 terrorists were killed in the Indian strikes. “Who has verified this information? Who were these terrorists that breached our borders? What was their identity? Why is there a lack of security at the borders? How did they manage to escape? The terrorist roots and modules need to be identified and eliminated. The Pulwama incident was a complete intelligence failure. The central government has failed to provide justice to the families of the Pulwama victims. Has the center provided any compensation to the Pulwama victims?”

The Congress leader also stated that the party condemns any attacks on civilians, be it in Karnataka, Pakistan, China, or Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier claimed that 100 terrorists were killed in ‘Operation Sarhad’, and that the operation is still ongoing. He had also warned that India will retaliate if Pakistan launches any further attacks.

The details of the ‘Operation Sarhad’ strikes on nine terror camps in Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Chakothi, and other locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are known. However, the extent of the damage and the casualties inflicted remain a matter of debate, with the opposition seeking more transparency and accountability from the government.
