Nandyal: In a heated address at the ‘Chalo Pothireddipadu’ event organized by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), young leader Baireddy Siddharth Reddy criticized the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government for halting work on the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project. Reddy described this decision as a nefarious act, emphasizing that even those who claim to be Rayalaseema activists have been dismissing the project in recent days.

During his speech on Thursday, Reddy pointed out the irony of political figures mocking requests for support by asking for clarification on terms like TMC and Q-sickles. “These individuals, who have presumably graduated to engineering standards, are only engaging in mockery for their political selfishness,” he stated. Reddy accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of failing to take any constructive actions, asserting that Naidu’s legacy consists solely of unveiling memorial plaques and claiming credit for projects that others have completed.

Reddy recounted a fable about a hunter who, after a fierce battle, kills a tiger. While seeking medicine for his wounds, another character, reminiscent of Chandrababu, arrives, takes credit for the kill, and boasts about his accomplishments. Reddy likened this to Naidu’s claims regarding the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project, which had actually begun during the NTR era and was completed under the leadership of Congress’s Rajasekhara Reddy. “Naidu has no connection to this project,” Reddy asserted firmly.

When questioned about the current shortage of urea, Reddy highlighted Naidu’s evasive tactics, stating that the former Chief Minister downplays its significance, suggesting it causes cancer. Regarding women’s welfare promises made during elections, Reddy claimed Naidu has assured them safety, yet such assurances seem hollow. He also criticized Pawan Kalyan for only focusing on a handful of constituencies, accusing both Naidu and Kalyan of perpetually deceiving the public.

Reddy condemned the suspension of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project as a vile act, insisting that Naidu and his associates continuously fabricate lies for their gain. He emphasized that the Rayalaseema Lift is not Chandrababu’s personal fiefdom, asserting that the YSRCP remains committed to achieving their goals, regardless of the challenges posed. The party leaders reiterated that they would not be deterred and would continue their fight for the rights of the people and farmers.

In conclusion, the gathering saw solidarity from various public and farmers’ organizations, signaling a united front against the perceived injustices faced by the Rayalaseema region. Reddy’s remarks encapsulated a growing frustration among constituents and set the stage for ongoing political discourse in the state.
