The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has extended a significant invitation to the Telangana Congress leadership, asking them to convene in Delhi on the 19th of this month. This call comes two years after the Congress party assumed power in the state, highlighting the ongoing discussions surrounding the political climate, government performance, and party strengthening in Telangana. The leaders, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, and cabinet ministers, are expected to meet at the AICC office, Indira Bhavan, at 10 AM on Thursday.

Key figures such as AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal are confirmed to be in attendance. This meeting reflects AICC’s broader strategy of gathering party leaders from across the country to fortify the Congress party in preparation for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections. It aims to invigorate the party organizationally while also strategizing against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nationally.

The urgency of this meeting is underscored by the fact that Congress is currently in power in Telangana. Discussions will cover a range of topics, including the performance of the Congress government in the state, coordination within the party, cabinet reshuffling, ongoing development and welfare schemes, the implementation of electoral promises, the six guarantees, and the status of other political parties. Notably, the performance of cabinet members will also be scrutinized, with insights into both electoral victories and losses, along with discussions on departmental activities.

Following this meeting, clarity is expected regarding potential cabinet expansions and any necessary changes within the government. Additionally, the allocation of pending appointments such as corporation chairpersons and party working presidents will be on the agenda. Reports indicate that Meenakshi Natarajan, the party’s in-charge for state affairs, has already submitted several reports to the AICC addressing these matters.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is currently in Mumbai to participate in the Mumbai Climate Week event. He is also expected to visit his wife Geetha, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, and pay his respects to her mother. After his engagements in Mumbai, he will travel to Delhi for the AICC meeting and is anticipated to return to Hyderabad either late Thursday night or Friday morning.

In light of the recent municipal election victories, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has received congratulations from various Congress MPs, MLAs, and MLCs. On Tuesday morning, several leaders, including Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi and Minister V. Srinivas Goud, visited him at his camp office to extend their congratulations. Following the success in the Janagama municipal elections, Bhongir MP K. Krishna Reddy and other party representatives also met with the Chief Minister to celebrate the achievement, with Revanth reciprocating the congratulations to his party leaders.
