In a recent outcry over alleged misconduct, YSR Congress Party’s MLC Varudu Kalyani has called for the suspension of Janasena MLA Arava Sridhar, following serious accusations of abuse against a woman. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Kalyani expressed her concerns regarding the safety of women in the state, particularly in light of the alleged actions of Sridhar.

Kalyani emphasized the need for immediate action from the government, stating, “The Railway Koduru MLA Sridhar must be suspended from the party without delay. There is a growing concern for women’s safety, as many coalition MLAs seem to behave like predators, disregarding the lives of women.” Her remarks come in response to claims that Sridhar has destroyed a woman’s life and instilled fear in her through threats of violence.

Highlighting the broader issues of women’s safety in the region, Kalyani pointed out that there appears to be no accountability for those in power who engage in misconduct. “There have been no legal actions taken against the 15 TDP workers who allegedly committed sexual assault in Rapthadu, nor against Kiran Royal, a Janasena leader, who is accused of ruining a woman’s life,” she stated. Kalyani’s comments reflect a growing frustration among women and advocates regarding the perceived inaction of authorities in addressing these serious allegations.

The situation has raised further questions about the state’s commitment to protecting women’s rights. Kalyani criticized the lack of responses from other political leaders, stating, “What will Chandrababu do now when he previously stated that any assault on women would be met with severe consequences? Does the Home Minister Anita not see the incidents happening in the state?”

Moreover, Kalyani pointed out a troubling incident involving Minister Sandhya Rani, where a victim became the target of legal action instead of receiving support. “How can we expect women’s safety when those in power abuse their authority?” she questioned, underscoring the urgent need for systemic change within the political framework.

The Janasena party has been called out for its stance on accountability, with Kalyani stating, “Janasena is the only party that discourages the release of videos that expose wrongdoing, instead of addressing those issues directly.” This criticism highlights the growing discontent among various political factions regarding women’s rights and safety.

As the calls for action intensify, many are left wondering what measures will be taken to address these serious allegations. Kalyani’s demands for immediate intervention reflect a broader desire for accountability and justice in a political landscape that increasingly appears indifferent to the plight of women. The issue of women’s safety and the actions of public officials will likely continue to be a focal point in the coming days as the public awaits a response from the authorities.
