Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has been issued a non-bailable warrant by a court in Moradabad, India, over allegations related to a financial transaction dating back to 2017. The warrant follows multiple court summonses that the actress failed to attend, prompting the legal action.
The controversy began when Patel was contracted to perform at the wedding of businessman Ayush Agarwal’s family in 2017. Event management company owner Pawan Kumar Verma had reportedly made all necessary arrangements for the event and paid Patel an advance of ₹14.5 lakh. So far, she has only returned ₹10 lakh, while the remaining ₹4.5 lakh check bounced, as stated by Verma in court.
In response to Verma’s demand for legal action, the additional civil judge of the junior division court issued several summons to Patel. Unfortunately, she did not appear in court, leading to the issuance of the non-bailable warrant to ensure her presence. Taking to social media, Patel reacted to the controversy, asserting that a settlement regarding the financial transaction with Pawan Verma had already been completed. She mentioned that Verma had signed a deed confirming the agreement. “I have already paid the agreed amount a long time ago. However, it seems he is filing cases with false allegations against me. My lawyers will take appropriate criminal action against him for his deceit. He needs to stop making false claims,” Patel stated.
