Director K.V. Anudeep has recently opened up about his upcoming film “Funky,” highlighting the comedic elements that have become a hallmark of his work. In a press conference held on Tuesday, he emphasized that while audiences might perceive a lack of story and logic in his films, he assures that every project he undertakes is grounded in a solid narrative. “The trailer for ‘Funky’ features a significant amount of comedy scenes, but the film also showcases a beautiful love story and family emotions,” he stated.

Starring Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar in lead roles, “Funky” is set to release on the 13th of this month, produced by Nagavanshi and Sai Soujanya under the banner of Sri Kaar Studios. Anudeep noted that Vishwak plays the role of a film director in the movie, drawing on his strong comedic timing displayed in previous films like “What Happened to this City?” He felt Vishwak was a perfect fit for the character after being impressed with the script.

In comparison to his previous hit “Jathi Ratnalu,” Anudeep described “Funky” as a fresh take, depicting relatable incidents from the lives of directors in a humorous light. He assured that the film includes several unexpected scenes that will entertain the audience. Notably, the film features guest appearances from producers Nagavanshi and Dil Raju, as well as directors Harish Shankar and Kalyan Shankar, with Anudeep himself taking on a role, despite expressing his disinterest in acting as a lead.

Anudeep stated, “I prefer focusing on directing rather than acting. I have many stories to tell as a director.” He praised Vishwak’s performance and noted that Kayadu delivered an equally commendable performance in a role that matches the hero’s stature. During the making of “Funky,” Anudeep shared more time traveling with Chinna Babu than with Nagavanshi, and he appreciated the valuable advice he received from Trivikram after watching the film.

While Anudeep aspires for every film to be a hit, he candidly acknowledged that his last project, “Prince,” did not achieve the desired results due to inadequate time for script development. In contrast, he felt that “Funky” benefitted from ample time and a well-crafted story. He believes that a film resonates with audiences when it maintains authenticity in its comedic scenes, much like the success of “Jathi Ratnalu.”

Regarding a sequel to “Jathi Ratnalu,” Anudeep has confirmed that it is not on the horizon until he feels satisfied with the story. He also revealed ongoing discussions for future projects with Maitree Movie Makers, 14 Reels, and People Media Factory, as well as potential collaborations with veteran actor Venkatesh. Although there were talks of a film with Ravi Teja, those plans have since fallen through. Anudeep is currently working on a lady-oriented script, showcasing his dedication to diverse storytelling in the film industry.
