In the world of cinema, no hero, director, or producer aims for their film to flop. Their intention is to entertain audiences, but various factors such as content quality, timing of release, and even competition from other films can lead to unexpected results. While experiencing one or two flops can be seen as a mere coincidence, a continuous string of failures raises more significant concerns. Currently, a prominent producer in Tollywood finds themselves in such a situation, prompting questions about what is happening within their production house.
The producer in question is none other than TG Vishwaprasad of People Media Factory. Over the past three years, the production house has released around 15 films. Out of these, only a couple have succeeded, with the majority facing severe negativity and poor box office performance. Previously, the studio had enjoyed success with films like “Guddachari” and “Karthikeya 2,” but their fortunes took a turn after the blockbuster “Dhamaka” in December 2022. Despite some criticism regarding its content, certain aspects of the film aligned perfectly, leading to its success. However, since then, People Media Factory has struggled to recapture that magic.
The year 2023 has been particularly challenging, with films such as “Bro,” featuring Pawan Kalyan and Sai Tej, failing miserably. Other releases like Gopichand’s “Ramabanam,” Nagashaurya’s “Phalana Abbai Phalana Ammayi,” and Roshan’s “Bubblegum” also did not fare well at the box office. Upcoming films like “Vishwam,” “Swag,” and “Eagle” starring Ravi Teja, along with “Mr. Bachchan” and “Narudi Brathuku Rala,” have also been met with skepticism. The trend of flops seems to be repeating for the production house, raising eyebrows among industry analysts and fans alike.
Looking back at last year, People Media Factory released films such as “Telusukundam Raa,” “Mirai,” and “Mogli,” with only Teja Sajja’s “Mirai” managing to become a hit. The situation was not much different for these films, as most failed to generate substantial earnings. The recent release “Raja Saab” during Sankranti was hoped to be a turnaround for the production house. Vishwaprasad had anticipated that this film could help recover some of the losses incurred over the previous years. However, the film received harsh criticism from critics on its opening day, and by the end of its run, it had firmly established itself as a flop, further diminishing box office collections.
While experiencing one or two flops might be brushed off as a mere mistake, the consistent failures from People Media Factory suggest that there may be a more significant issue at play. In past interviews, producer Vishwaprasad has expressed the ambition of rapidly producing 100 films, claiming that his team listens to all story pitches. Yet, this might be a contributing factor to the string of failures. The question now is whether the production house can recover from this slump.
Currently, People Media Factory has several films in the pipeline, including “Mirai 2,” “Zombireddy 2,” “Rajugari Gadi 4,” “Karthikeya 3,” and “Guddachari 2.” While there is some anticipation surrounding these upcoming projects, the industry waits with bated breath to see if these films can reverse the current trend of flops and mark a successful comeback for the production house.
