During a recent media meet, Shiva Kandukuri explained the reasoning behind the title change, stating, “We decided to respect the censor rules and guidelines, which led us to change our title to ‘Nawab Cafe.’ When Promod narrated the story to me, we initially thought of the title ‘Nawab Cafe.’ Destiny ultimately dictated that this title would become the final choice. The title encapsulates the soul and story of our film, and I believe it will resonate with audiences.” He further expressed confidence that viewers would leave the theater feeling compelled to connect with their own fathers after watching the film, highlighting the strong father-son emotional themes present in the narrative.
Producer Venkat elaborated on the decision to officially change the title, clarifying, “We did not publicly announce the need to change our movie’s title. I traveled to Mumbai and spoke with the censor team, who informed us that the title ‘Chai Wala’ was not permissible. As a result, we finalized our working title ‘Nawab Cafe.'” This shift not only reflects industry standards but also aligns with the film’s thematic elements.
Promod Harsha, the director, shared insights into the film’s storyline, noting, “The narrative of ‘Nawab Cafe’ is based on events from my own life experiences.” He emphasized how personal anecdotes have shaped the film’s development, promising a relatable and heartfelt viewing experience.
