Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget sessions commenced today, with Governor Abdul Nazir addressing both houses on the inaugural day. However, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders accused the Governor of delivering a speech filled with lies and falsehoods, claiming the coalition government coerced him into making misleading statements. During this session, opposition leaders condemned the alleged attacks on their homes and questioned the chaotic governance of the coalition government.
In the context of the budget meetings, YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with party MLAs and MLCs, staged protests outside the Assembly, demanding recognition as the principal opposition party. They held placards urging the government to grant them this status while chanting slogans against the coalition. YSRCP leaders asserted that the coalition parties were deceiving the public, arguing that their refusal to grant opposition status was a tactic to suppress legitimate questions raised on behalf of the citizens.
The YSRCP emphasized their commitment to fighting for the rights of the people, declaring that they would raise their voices against the injustices faced by the state’s residents. Following the Governor’s speech, YSRCP leaders voiced their strong objections, denouncing the claims made during the address as entirely false. They expressed disappointment over the Governor, who holds a constitutional position, resorting to untruths.
During the protests, YSRCP leaders chanted slogans highlighting their grievances, stating that they were not being allowed to question the declining peace and security in the state. They demanded immediate action against the alleged misinformation about the Tirumala laddu, protection of members’ rights, and a halt to the privatization of medical colleges. Questions were raised regarding a debt of 3.2 lakh crores, with leaders demanding transparency on where this money had been allocated.
Efforts were made to interrupt the Governor’s speech, with claims that the coalition government was embroiled in a governance crisis characterized by chaos and an absence of welfare or development. They pointed out that women’s empowerment had diminished and farmers were not receiving fair prices for their crops. Students, too, were suffering due to the government’s failure to provide fee reimbursements.
YSRCP leaders vowed to continue their struggle regarding all promises made by the government. They pledged to expose the failures of leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan, asserting that the current government was putting immense pressure on employees, leading to tragic outcomes. They accused the government of harassing workers by failing to pay them their dues and making empty promises to volunteers who are now left struggling.
Moreover, they claimed that the government misled the youth with false assurances of employment, highlighting that Andhra Pradesh ranks lowest in governance across the country. They questioned why such critical issues were omitted from the Governor’s speech. Following their protest, the YSRCP members walked out of the Assembly in a show of dissent, leaving a strong message against the coalition government’s policies.
