Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed the media from the YSR Congress Party’s camp office in Tadepalli, where he discussed several pressing issues, including allegations against Chandrababu Naidu regarding credit theft and a recent incident in the village of Pinnelli, located in the Palnadu Gurjala constituency.
During the press conference, Jagan accused Naidu of being the sole person capable of committing credit theft on the land and even claimed that Naidu would be embarrassed to look at the current situation. He expressed that Naidu has shown no concern for resolving farmers’ issues or even the need for a land resurvey, which Jagan noted was an idea that came to him during his padyatra (foot march). He emphasized that the solution to the problems raised by farmers lies within the resurvey.
Jagan elaborated on the previous government’s negligence, stating that there were no surveyors or technology for land surveys before his party came to power. He highlighted how his government initiated a comprehensive land resurvey in December 2020, as promised in their 2019 manifesto. Jagan described the resurvey as a “Maha Yajna,” a great sacrifice aimed at rectifying land issues, and asserted that it was executed transparently without any disputes.
He further explained that under his administration, the government has modernized land records to prevent tampering and has issued permanent ownership documents to landowners. The introduction of advanced features like QR codes in land passbooks was also mentioned, and he questioned whether Naidu, now nearing 80 years of age, had ever thought about such improvements during his time in office.
Jagan criticized Naidu for claiming credit for initiatives that were actually a result of his own government’s efforts. He pointed out that the central government had recognized the comprehensive land survey with a platinum grade and allocated significant funds, countering Naidu’s claims. The accolades from organizations like NITI Aayog and the interest from other states in his administration’s survey efforts were also highlighted as proof of his government’s success.
In an emotional turn, Jagan addressed a horrifying incident in Pinnelli where a man named Salman, a Dalit, was brutally attacked and killed. He condemned the violence and the subsequent denial of burial rights to Salman’s body, attributing the unrest to Naidu’s administration. Jagan promised to seek justice through the courts and human rights organizations, emphasizing that the moral decay in governance under Naidu’s leadership has reached alarming levels.
The former Chief Minister did not shy away from discussing the rampant illegal activities in the state, particularly the establishment of belt shops and the mining scams that have become prevalent under the current coalition government. He accused the government of promoting illegal gambling and said that the people of Andhra Pradesh need to recognize that his party is the only viable opposition to the ruling parties.
As the press conference concluded, Jagan reiterated the need for transparency and integrity in governance, urging the public to hold their leaders accountable for their actions. He pledged to fight for the rights of the people and ensure that justice prevails in the state amidst the rising tide of corruption.
