Chennai: In a bold move, BJP leader K. Annamalai has demanded the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin. Annamalai also called for Udayanidhi to resign from his position, highlighting the need for accountability in the state’s governance. This demand comes after the Madras High Court’s Madurai bench ordered the cancellation of an FIR filed against BJP leader Amit Malviya, prompting Annamalai’s remarks.
Speaking to the ANI news agency on Thursday, Annamalai criticized the DMK government for showing a lack of respect for the judicial system. He alleged that the Stalin administration has failed to implement the rulings issued by the courts, raising concerns over the rule of law in the state. The court’s recent judgment regarding Amit Malviya’s case included serious remarks targeting Udayanidhi, suggesting that his comments on religious beliefs could lead to ethnic cleansing.
Annamalai emphasized that Tamil Nadu police must take action against Udayanidhi, stating, “If this is a legitimate government, they should obtain a resignation letter from him.” He referred to comments made by Udayanidhi during a speech three years ago that sparked widespread controversy across the nation, where he called for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, comparing it to diseases like malaria and dengue. Malviya has described these remarks as a call for genocide, which led to the filing of a criminal case against Udayanidhi at the time.
Recently, the Madras High Court dismissed the case against Udayanidhi, leading Annamalai to criticize the Stalin government for disregarding court rulings. He stated that the government has not complied with court orders in various cases, including the Tirupparankundram case, and warned that the public is taking note of these failures. Annamalai remarked that the people would have to endure the DMK government’s misdeeds for another 50 days.
He further accused the DMK and left-wing parties of refusing to accept any court decision. Annamalai pointed out that if judges do not act in favor of the government, they resort to using caste and religion to make derogatory comments. He claimed that while the Communist Party presents itself as a champion of the poor, it has turned into a tail party after aligning with the DMK.
As political tensions rise in Tamil Nadu, the BJP is intensifying its scrutiny of the ruling party’s actions and decisions. The situation continues to unfold, with both parties gearing up for what promises to be a contentious political battle in the coming days. The implications of these allegations and demands could significantly impact the political landscape in the state as the public’s attention remains firmly focused on the unfolding drama.
