Hyderabad: The Telangana municipal elections have turned into a battleground as the campaigning deadline looms just two days away. With the stakes high in 116 municipalities and seven corporations across the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its efforts significantly. Observing an unprecedented response from the public, party leaders are increasingly confident about victory and are focused on converting this favorable atmosphere into votes.
According to internal reports, conditions appear highly favorable for the BJP to raise its lotus flag in at least three corporations and 30 to 40 municipalities. Strategically assessing the chances of victory, the state party has categorized its candidates into grades A, B, C, and D. The ‘A’ grade is reserved for areas deemed certain to win, with special attention devoted to the management of polling booths in these regions. Additionally, strategists are working to overcome challenges in ‘B’ grade wards, where the possibility of winning exists but may be close.
Local leaders, neutral observers, and media sources have all contributed to solidifying this categorization, ensuring that the party is well-informed about the ground realities. In this intense political battle, prominent leaders are devising strategies in their own distinctive styles. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has already evaluated strengths and weaknesses in the Karimnagar region through personal surveys, taking on the responsibility of ensuring candidate victories. Similarly, other MPs and MLAs are ramping up their oversight in their respective constituencies.
As the campaigning reaches its climax, BJP’s state president N. Ramachandra Rao is set to undertake whirlwind tours via helicopter, energizing party workers in districts like Kothagudem, Kodad, and Nalgonda. On the final campaign day, Rao will visit Nizamabad, while Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar will lead the charge in Karimnagar. The BJP is fully prepared to touch every household and execute grand roadshows, with the goal of flying the saffron flag high in the municipal elections.
With time running out, the urgency and intensity of the campaign are palpable. The party is not only focused on winning seats but also aims to establish a strong presence in local governance. As the countdown to the elections continues, the strategies employed by the BJP and the reactions from their opponents will be closely watched, marking a significant moment in Telangana’s political landscape.
