In a significant move ahead of the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has assigned responsibilities to various ministers based on parliamentary constituencies. Each minister will oversee the elections in their respective parliamentary segments as the state gears up for a crucial electoral battle.

Starting tomorrow, the Chief Minister has ordered preparatory meetings to be held in municipalities across parliamentary segments. This initiative aims to encourage the integration of weaker municipalities and enhance their electoral prospects. The ministers will focus on specific areas including Bhongir, Mahabubabad, and Medak, among others, ensuring that each constituency has a dedicated minister to lead the charge.

The state cabinet expressed confidence that they will secure a majority of seats in the upcoming municipal elections. Cabinet members noted that the Congress party’s standing is currently strong across the state, and they believe the public does not see the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as a viable alternative. This sentiment was echoed during a cabinet meeting held late Sunday night in Medak, which lasted over two hours and focused on political strategies for the municipal elections.

According to sources, Chief Minister Reddy has directed that arrangements for the elections be completed by February 15. The cabinet discussed various aspects of managing the elections and how to effectively tackle them on a party-level basis. Several ministers shared their opinions on the political scenarios in different districts and municipalities, emphasizing that the impact of ongoing development and welfare schemes will make contesting the elections a manageable task.

Ministers expressed their belief that the BRS and BJP would only pose minimal competition in the elections. However, they agreed that it is essential to treat the elections as a prestigious endeavor. They urged local MLAs and district in-charge ministers to take responsibility and focus on winning the elections as their primary goal.

During the discussions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy mentioned that although the schedule for the municipal elections will be announced soon, he will have to travel abroad for pre-scheduled engagements. He emphasized the importance of participating in key meetings while urging all ministers to take on the responsibility of ensuring the party’s victory in the municipal elections, thereby reinforcing public trust in the state government.

This proactive approach by the Telangana government comes at a time when political dynamics are shifting, and the upcoming municipal elections could significantly impact the state’s governance landscape. As ministers prepare for their roles, the focus now shifts to mobilizing resources and strategies that align with the party’s vision for local governance.
