The politics of Andhra Pradesh has become tense after sharp criticism of former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for supporting the NDA in the recent Vice-Presidential election.
Manickam Tagore, AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, strongly condemned Reddy’s move, calling it a “betrayal” of the people and the principles of the YSR Congress Party. Speaking at a press meet, he said history would remember this act and voters will not forget it.
Tagore also said Jagan’s support for the NDA looked like a political strategy for personal or party gain instead of public welfare. Critics argue that the decision goes against the values of YSR Congress, which was built by Reddy’s late father to protect the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
However, YSR Congress supporters defended Jagan, saying working with the central government is necessary for the state’s development. They pointed to projects supported by the NDA as proof that such alliances can help Andhra Pradesh.
Still, many loyal party workers are unhappy, and this decision may affect Jagan’s political image in the coming elections. Observers say the controversy could reshape the future of YSR Congress and its relationship with voters.
With elections approaching, this issue is expected to play a big role in Andhra Pradesh politics.
