Court Denies Bail to Former IT Advisor in Liquor Scam Case
In a major setback for Raj Kesireddy, the former Information Technology advisor to the previous YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the bail petitions filed by him and his father Upender Reddy. The two were implicated in an alleged liquor scam that took place during the previous state administration.
The liquor scam, which came to light during the tenure of the previous YSR Congress government, involved the misappropriation of funds and the diversion of government resources for personal gain. Kesireddy, who served as the IT advisor, was accused of using his position to facilitate the siphoning of funds and the illegal distribution of liquor licenses.
In their petitions, Kesireddy and his father Upender Reddy sought bail, arguing that they were being unfairly targeted and that the allegations against them were politically motivated. However, the Supreme Court, after carefully reviewing the evidence presented by the investigating authorities, refused to grant them bail, stating that the charges against them were serious and warranted further investigation.
The dismissal of the bail petitions is a significant blow to Kesireddy and his family, as they now face the prospect of a prolonged legal battle to clear their names. The case has also raised concerns about the integrity of the state’s governance and the potential for corruption within the former YSR Congress government.
The Supreme Court’s decision is seen as a strong message that the judiciary will not tolerate any form of corruption or abuse of power, regardless of an individual’s political or social status. The case is expected to continue to be closely watched by the public and the media, as the investigation into the liquor scam progresses.
